I will be moving shortly with my family to Canada.Just wanted to check,which will be the best place to settle down in GTA(Not expensive in terms of housing and good school and recreational facilities)

Welcome to Canada .. GTA ...
GTA has very good transport system and basically most of the places are okay. In GTA MAP, identify the school locations and near by subway stations / bus stops so that you will have some good idea about GTA. Then you can explore the nearby places where you can rent a place to live.
The best way is to spend more time on google ... you will have some good idea soon. Later you can contact the forum to get more specific information / opinion.
Brampton, Jane-Finch, Erinmills PKWY, Scarborough and some areas of mississauga are places to avoid.
Safety works two ways.
1.All white neighbourough hood has its own problem that your children will have assimilation problems and issues like pedophilia, casual drug use happens.
2.Other areas you have breakin, drug dealing, prostitution to name a few.

Good way to reduce immigration. Scare the s**t out of someone about neighborhoods
