Have guys seen or hear the current crop of Desi candidates for councillors and mayor of mississauga.
Im really scared for the future of mississauga if these guys will win.
One guy comes over to me and canvasses that I should vote for him because he is from our Desi Community.
Why dont some of these guys shave and wear clothes meeting Canadian standards than Kabul standards.
None of these guys have plans but only thing they do is to attack the opposition.
Scary stuff!
Hope youll look beyond these guys and vote for the right candidate on this 25th October 2010.

Why support 'Freezing Immigration'?
You guys don't want other people to come in, have hardship of 2 to 10 years and settel down to a better (?) life. Thats not good.
As another senior CD on this forum says, Let more people come in, bring money, work hard, pay taxes; so that system keeps running.

I have heard of the desi candidates running and how they are playing on racial divides. Regardless, please do not vote for Paul Fromm. He is a well-known white supremacist. Having such a man as mayor would be absolutely shameful for the city of Mississauga.
People like him are anti-immigration because they have a deep seated hatred of minorities. They are given an audience during tough economic times when the public wants to find someone to blame. Paul wants things to stay the way they were 50 years ago, when Mississauga would have been mostly farmland occupied by white families living in picturesque countryside houses. Yes, Mississauga is now busier, much more developed, and much much more diverse.
The economic impact of immigration to Canada has been extraordinarily positive for over a hundred years. The majority of immigrants to Canada arrive in the skilled worker class, not refugee or family class. These are people who are educated, want to find jobs, succeed and provide better lives for their families. Children of immigrants do better in school, integrate quickly, and are more likely to pursue higher education. Yes, many immigrant parents often struggle for the first few years to settle down, but almost all of them do eventually settle, buy houses etc. Once they do, they do not regret their tough times! Of course there will be a few bad apples who take advantage of Canada's welfare state services, but this is not unique to new immigrants.
What Mississauga services are crumbling? Water? Electricity? Road capacity? Community centers? Give me a break. If you think Toronto roads are busy, try any large US urban area to know the difference.
Yes, it is tough to find jobs now, interest rates are low, real estate isn't appreciating much. But this is not due to Canadian immigration. There are much bigger endemic problems with the global financial system.
Problem with 905 is that there are no major issues to contend, unless you live in some really crappy neighbourhood.
I wonder if it is worth replacing existing councilor/mayor just to find out how the new electees might turn out.

Technically yes. However, all meyoral candidates including toronto, Brampton, Mississauga and other cities are debating about immigration I do think they can create an impact(though not directly) on this issue.
