The forthcoming elections are the best ever opportunity for the canadian desi citizens to put the right candidates in the parliament.

Just few facts on the realities and eye opening facts.

* Politicians are those necessary evil for which you dont have much alternatives. They are same - India or Canada. Their promises are even better than Canadian weather - changes much more faster than the weather.

* Your individual vote is very precious. If you are canadian citizen and you think you are fine sitting and enjoying the warmth of your home, you are making a very big mistake. Your 1 single vote will make a big ...whole lot of difference. So please..please...please go and vote.

* You get a chance once in few years to bring about the change.

Now some facts about the present liberals.

* Do you know they were in the fore-front of the biggest corruption scandal in this country?
* Do you know their policies have led to the biggest mess up in the Immigration dept. with 700,000 immigrants waiting to enter canada. Thats' more than the size of Mississauga. Imagine what difference these immigrants can make to the country.
* Do you know Liberals have played pivotal role in messing up the health-care system. Wait times....Its better not to describe it here.
* Do you know Liberals could have made a difference in controlling the gas prices...but preferred not to.
* Liberals have always turned a deaf ear to immigrants skills and job prospects. They have not done an inch to work with the industry to push for the acceptance of educated immigrants with the main-strem work-force. They have to manage doing labour work/taxi/grocery store type of jobs.

I am not in favour of Conservatives or any other political parties but this is the best opportunity to bring about the change. And believe me, "Change is only constant, everything else is static". So go out and please cast your votes and bring about much awaited "CHHHHAAAANNNNNGGGGEEEEE"

Just boot the Liberals out and get the Conservatives in.

I know the Conservatives are not friendly to immigrants but atleast they are honest about it.

The Liberals just fooled all immigrants and used them as "Vote Banks" just like slum vote banks in India.

:(

Hi@
This is what my best friend (desi) says about the elections. He is a very clever and mature guys!
Thanks

STOP! People are watching!

With completing two years of stay as a landed immigrant in Canada in
December 2005, I have collected great number of first-hand experiences (not
necessarily lessons) as also great friends. Starting from September 2005 as
a continuing student at Ryerson University, I entered into yet another field
full of new experiences as well as contraversies - Canadian Education!

Many of my friends from India have come to Canada as immigrants and decided
to go back understanding the real picture of life in Canada. Especially
even after informing the problems and writing to the ministers as well as
other politicians, when there was no indication of any change other than the
ministers and portfolios have changed, they decided to retreat. Now
immigrants clearly understands that after spending for immigration, right of
landing and other expenses including funds for initial period (which may
extend even to year, when most of them are working as factory labours or
doing some survival job not in their field of specialization and education),
which amounts to more than $12000 for single and $20000 for a family of
four. The total of around 120000 immigrants per year accounts of whopping
$1.8 billion in a year. Those who can not work in a survival job for long,
understanding the fact that they are only the losers if they go back as by
that time they have spent the money here in Canada, and Canadian Government
has nothing to lose, decide to go back. They do not want to receive State
Assistance, as many others who decide to take survival job, as they are
qualified, and posting the loss towards WRONG DECISION, they make up by
going back and living a respectable life with their family members.

Those who decide to stay back go for Canadian Education, and here starts
another story.

As per Statistics Canada, by the year 2017, there will be majority of
visible minority, which makes it compulsory for the politicians to think of
this problem much more effectively than just trying to fix it or patch it up
in addition to a great number of students who are voting.

With Canadian Education comes a lot of frustration, especially for those
like me who are educated in India and France. In India, the education is
based on understanding the subject, though many times, it lacks the
practical back up. French education which showed me another side of the
coin attaches practical aspects of education by inviting the professionals
working in the field of education to the university. Though not successful,
it is a good effort to bridge the gap. Canadian education is, I feel, more
marketable commodity than a practical commidity. I think, Canadian Education is not needing just patches and fixes, but it
requires a complete rethinking. What exactly the politicians are trying to
achieve by doing such mockery of students? However, election is on 23rd
January, 2006, and students and immigrants are voting.

Stop politicians this non-sense, the students and the immigrants are
watching. Wake up, this is warning bell for you, before the situation in
the society worsen, it is your duty to solve these basic problems of
education and jobs. In fact, it is your job and you are paid for that! Do
your duty right, Mr.Politicians!

I totally agree. Liberals need 'The' Boot. They have fooled us into giving them votes in the past (I never infact). And they are the Chief Architect of Messing the Family Sponsorship. They have secretly slashed the quota and is responsible for our seperation-sorrow.

I agree...

But I still don't think that's any reason to vote Conservative either. When they CLEARLY state (As someone mentioned in this threat already...) that they are not happy with immigration or immigrants, rather. Why would I vote for someone who doesn't like 'me'? That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard!

So that leaves me but one choice.... Aah!
