Can someone help me with this, I lost my landed papers and I requested the Verification of Status from CIC. I got it after 6 months and now BLS is asking for status verification which clearly shows the landed category, which they say they have got from other applicants.

I called CIC and they said they don't issue any document that shows the landed category other than the information provided on the Verification of Status.

Does any one know what other document i should be requesting from CIC or any other suggestions.

Thanks

Verification of Status Document.:

A Verification of Status document will contain information that appeared on your original Record of Landing, Confirmation of Permanent Residence, Work Permit, Study Permit or other immigration documents. This document can be used when you must provide proof of historical immigration information, such as the date and place of entry to Canada.

You may obtain a Verification of Status document outlining the pertinent historical information for the following:

Certificate of Departure (IMM 0056)
Immigrant Visa and Record of Landing (IMM 1000)/Confirmation of Permanent Residence (IMM 5292 or IMM 5688)
Visitor Record (IMM 1097 or IMM 1442)
Work Permit (IMM 1102 or IMM 1442)
Study Permit (IMM 1208 or IMM 1442)
Exclusion Order (IMM 1214)
Deportation Order (IMM 1215)
Departure Order (IMM 5238)
Permit to Come Into or Remain in Canada (IMM 1263)
Authorization to Return to Canada (IMM 1203)
Protected Persons

Note : The actual document itself will not be issued, instead a plain paper document will be issued that will provide information about your immigration history

PLEASE SEE BELOW WHAT THE FEES CHARGED FOR. If you asked for a SPECIFIC COPY of a document you pay $30.00

IF you want a copy of VOS, then there is an additional fee of $30.00.

Check your copy of the fees paid from your past documents, paid six months back. It will tell you what you asked for.

NOW, if you need VOS, find out from BLS what they want and ask them to show the format of that page and what it says. You ORDER the same paying a fee of $30, Mark URGENT and request for VOS.

BLS are the only people who can show you a copy of that document and what it looks like.

If you need any application form, please get back here.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Here is a link to :Pay the fees..... See it in the link and at the very bottom. What it is they are saying is written below..... it says VOS or Replacement etc.,
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5545ETOC.asp#5545E3

Include the processing fee for your application submitted to CIC. The fee is not refundable, nor does it guarantee approval of your application. If you are not approved you will not be issued a Verification of Status or receive a replacement document.

Type of application Number of persons Amount per document Amount Due
Verification of Status (VoS) or Replacement of an Immigration Document x $30

My OCI timeline from last year if it helps. PIO should be the same , I guess or maybe even faster than OCI.

OCI - Toronto Recent May 9 -2012 application

Date Of Acknowledgment : 09-MAY-2012

Photo/Signature at Mission :  Scanned  On 10-MAY-2012

Registration Status at Mission : Granted on 9-JUNE-2012

Documents Printing Status : Printed on 11-JUNE-2012

Dispatched From MOIA (OCI ):NEW DELHI -DISPATCHED on 13-JUNE-2012

Documents Received at CGI TORONTO On 28-JUNE-2012

^
Went and collected them on the same day , as I was in that area . everything was OK ..the lifetime U-Visa sticker on my Canadian PP and the OCI booklet

Surprisingly the process was smooth and transparent, and within the timeline. Gotta give credit , where credit is due , India seems to be improving in this regard.

Except for the red tape like making 4 trips to get my OCI , everything else was normal.

I am preparing to apply for OCI soon (once I receive the 10-year Canadian passport); this above post is confusing, to say the least. Can someone who recently got OCI provide a list of ORIGINAL DOCS I need to enclose? I am in Maritimes so I can't physically visit the BLS places. Also, is it ok if I send them a prepaid Canadapost express mail envelop for doc-return? On their site, BLS does not clearly specify which doc need to be originals and which can be photocopies. Also, can one rely on these folks to return ALL originals or did anyone have issues, such as some originals misplaced etc...?
Thanks in advance for help.

The OP lost is landing papers so he has to show additional documents.

Otherwise , you have to show the docs below.

Don't go by what BLS says but go by what the embassy says..BLS is just a BPO . They just act as a courier or postman. What the embassy says is more imp. And not BLS.

See the list below for original docs.

I went physically and did not apply by post , hence 4 physical trips as below.

1. First trip , apply with all original docs and application .

They keep the originals , which they send to the embassy for verification.

They give you the Canadian PP back immediately On the spot after verification, but all other originals like landing paper , indian PP etc etc are sent to the embassy.

2. Second trip , to go and collect all the originals , which come back from the embassy after verification, like landing paper, Indian PP etc etc.

3. Third trip, once OCI is approved ..you have to go and submit the Canadian PP again , so that they can stamp the U visa on it.

They don't stick the U visa on it immediately , which is ridiculous. They make you come back again to pick up your Canadian PP with the visa on it and the OCI booklet.

4. Fourth & Final Trip and the ordeal is finally over !!!

You go in to pick up your Canadian PP with the OCI U visa on it and the OCi booklet !

---------

Hope this helps , anyone who is applying physically. Yes 4 physical trips need to be made !

Plus the pickup and drop off points are at different times !

If you go in the morning , you can only apply !

If you go in the evening , you can only pick up !

So make sure you go at the right time , depending upon if you are dropping off or picking up .

Adamthorat thank you very much for such a detailed list; I was just about to visit CGI-Toronto (online) to see what info I can gather; While having the Indian passport cancelled, I was confused between CGI-Toronto info and that of BLS site and sent them some 29 bucks more than I should have; i asked them if they could return that money but their answer was: No we can't return the overpayment nor can we hold it for later use by the same applicant!!! Initially, they returned all my docs telling me something or other missing, and boy, was that a headache! Every time I send stuff it costs 35 bucks for mailing alone! So this time I am carefully preparing docs so I could finish it in one go. Thanks for help.... I will check the CGI site to make sure things are properly corresponding. Have a great day; you made my day!
