This CD website is a PARADISE. Because people get the best of advice and the procedures to follow and I know it does work. You want to know how? Because they do not return back to tell us if they succeeded. But they are all here some where in the wood works watching us here. BUT, there is always a butt, they do not read the posts from others or help us in return.
At the same time, I do get a feed backs from others that they got all of what they wanted from the postings from CD and they were successful.

Now, what ever that you need is given below. It is an exact copy from the previous posting, just a few letters before.
PLEASE see what CERTIFICATE or Document (IMM xxxx) that you are looking for. Add THIRTY bucks to it get the VOS also. (I heard that they have stopped issuing the VOS now.) So, expect to get the refund if it is not made available anymore.

Cerification of Status Document.:
A Verification of Status document will contain information that appeared on your original Record of Landing, Confirmation of Permanent Residence, Work Permit, Study Permit or other immigration documents. This document can be used when you must provide proof of historical immigration information, such as the date and place of entry to Canada.
You may obtain a Verification of Status document outlining the pertinent historical information for the following:
Certificate of Departure (IMM 0056)
Immigrant Visa and Record of Landing (IMM 1000)/Confirmation of Permanent Residence (IMM 5292 or IMM 5688)
Visitor Record (IMM 1097 or IMM 1442)
Work Permit (IMM 1102 or IMM 1442)
Study Permit (IMM 1208 or IMM 1442)
Exclusion Order (IMM 1214)
Deportation Order (IMM 1215)
Departure Order (IMM 5238)
Permit to Come Into or Remain in Canada (IMM 1263)
Authorization to Return to Canada (IMM 1203)
Protected Persons
Note : The actual document itself will not be issued, instead a plain paper document will be issued that will provide information about your immigration history
PLEASE SEE BELOW WHAT THE FEES CHARGED FOR. If you asked for a SPECIFIC COPY of a document you pay $30.00
IF you want a copy of VOS, then there is an additional fee of $30.00.
Check your copy of the fees paid from your past documents, paid six months back. It will tell you what you asked for.
NOW, if you need VOS, find out from BLS what they want and ask them to show the format of that page and what it says. You ORDER the same paying a fee of $30, Mark URGENT and request for VOS.
BLS are the only people who can show you a copy of that document and what it looks like.

YOU will be going to BLS Office in Toronto. They are the same people who will be doing this request for the IMMs and also the VOS. While you are there ask them to show you a copy or a format of the document that they are requesting in their application. They should help you there.
Only you know what documents were lost, so make a list first and then order them.

I wanted to update folks here, if any one is in the same boat as me hopefully it benefits them.
I had lost my landing papers and requested verification of status from CIC. I specifically asked them in a letter to include Immigration Category information for OCI. I received my verification of status document after nearly six months and they have included the immigration category information under 'REMARKS'.
This should hopefully be enough for OCI and will be applying for it shortly. Will keep the forum posted.

I was in the same situation and frustrated despite showing the CIC VOS document confirming my landing details but they need more info such as category. CIC stopped giving the true copy of landing paper since last year.
It is so pathetic that they wanted to see my landing paper for my wife's OCI application where as i have submitted my OCI details .
I was been advised to contact consulate to get exemption in this scenarios. This day 3 and still waiting for the reply to my email.
Will post once i get the reply and outcome.

The landed category is very very important on the landing paper. So make sure its accurate & no mistakes are made on it. India wants to know if you came to Canada as a refugee or not.
Lot of Indians misuse the law and say that they are discriminated against in India & their life is in danger in India & they will be jailed or tortured in India.
They lie and then claim refugee status in Canada upon arrival in Canada on a visitor's visa or student visa or work permit, and they get PR & Canadian citizenship on the basis of that.
Its a short cut & easy way to come to Canada. They falsely claim religious, political or some other persecution in India.
After that they want OCI of India . Really ?? You now want the OCI of a country and want to visit the so called country which discriminates against you and your life is in danger ?
After spoiling India's image abroad by lying/misrepresentation to get your canadian PR/Citizenship now you want to have OCI of India ?? Why would you want to go back if your life is in danger and you will be jailed/tortured ? ( unless you were lying in the first place )

Yes ask them to include that in remarks. So India knows if you came to Canada as a landed immigrant ( PR ) or as a refugee. If you came as a refugee you will not get Indian OCI , unless its a really genuine case.
