So, you are all set. Do it the way you want and everything will fall in its place. Yes, you can get the Passport surrendered upon return to Canada at any BLS Center. Slow, but sure.

As regards the Baby, the Baby is Born a Canadian and if the birth would have been on the Canadian soil, the coverage starts IMMEDIATELY. Now, being away from Canada for more than 210 days Plus, you will have to start the application process upon arrival and present yourselves at any of the SERVICE CANADA center and get through the waiting period to initiate the coverage. The first 90 days are the waiting time for any returnees. Please check with them anytime you get a chance. They are even open on Saturdays till 13:00 hrs.

Dear Friends,

My Daughter born in India and i am naturalized Canadian citizen and wife PR of Canada. I have applied citizenship card for my daughter, i have sent the notary copies of my documents. But, they have sent the application back and requested to send all the original documents like passports, my citizenship card, all medical records. So , last week i re-sent the application with all originals. My Consular location is New Delhi.

I haven't heard anything from them or received any letter, i know its too early to get the acknowledgement letter.

Friends, Anyone applied citizenship card for new born at New Delhi. Any advise or info is highly appreciated.

Congrats !
They will advise you and reply to you.
They will not acknowledge anything. If they need any further information, they will either call or send a mail or post a letter.

Thanks.. But, to my understanding.. once CIC starts processing the application, they issue the client id ( i assume that is the acknowledgement of application) also issue the fee receipt confirmation. How long it will take to reach us... Now, even i don't know if they accepted the application or going to send the application back.. Fingers crossed..

I am eager to check the application status on cic... I know too early. .. any guess ??

I will provide you under this with a link and you can only use it after you receive a Client ID. Until such time here is some thing that you can use to derive an inference from the papers you submitted.

If you paid the fees for the processing of the Citizenship Certificate with a credit card or by a Demand Draft, then please see if the money has left your account or the DD has been cashed. If you can confirm the same as being completed, then the papers will soon start to get processed, BUT, there is always a but... It gets transferred to SYDNEY N.S. for the official issue of such a document as it bears a serial number for the document.

Some of these process takes as long as FIVE Months currently, for a local issue here in Canada. You can safely add a few days more to that, since your application is to the High Commission there in India.

In the due course you will certainly receive an acknowledgement and it might be from the Canadian counterparts.

Have some patience and it will pay you dividends.
