Quite frankly Chandreshji, NO.
Being uprooted from my familiar environment, I put in extra efforts to become financially secure, which I most probably wouldn’t have if I was in familiar surroundings, because it’s a human tendency to take things for granted and lead a laid back life when you are amongst your own…..you know what I mean!!
Besides, moving to Canada was a win-win situation for me, because not only did it gave me ample opportunity, it also provided a life style which even a multi-millionaire wouldn’t have in India (read clean roads, less corruption, way less pollution, etc.)

I wonder if Gollu had stayed in India instead of coming to Canada, but kept the same attitude that he did in Canada, wouldn't he be a millionaire there by 10 years???
In my view, he might have been multi-millionaire.........

Advice is free – lessons I charge for!!
Take care of the cent (paisa), and it will take care of the dollar(Rupee) – this was imbibed into me from the very early age.
Never had issues with money, always paid off CC debts in full every month, have an exceptionally high credit history because I have never defaulted in any bill payments, or made any late payments…ever!
Strict disciplinarian about money matters, and other things in life……it does have a positive impact!!

Congrats Gollu, and keep it going. It is good to hear motivating experiences once in a while. If you dont mind, do spend some time on CD (when time permits) and give tips to others on how to make it. I am sure some of the CD's are curious to know the steps that worked for you.

Most of the people ( again not all - most ) say laid back life is good are liers ..
every one wants to make money but they gave up after trying ( or i would say after not trying hard)
Remind me of " The Fox and the Grapes "
Most of the immigrant move to these country to get rich and have better life - that is the fact
I admire people who are successful and rich by smart or hard work.
Laid back guys has been move back to their own country to enjoy life... people relocate to these country to get rich or easy access to money and facilities

Not sure what is you peeve against the OP. It is his choice and he has stated his choice. We have to note and appriciate his feelings and just move on. You may want to follow him or you may want to follow what your heart says. We have no authority to question his life.

I disagree with your statement taht in India we pay less tax. Nope. Not true. I pay around 25% of my income as income tax. However it is easier to evade tax in India in business when compared to Canada.
