Generally I never venture into religious discussions as they tend to turn violent. I have always supported the good aspects of every religion.
So to dispell the 72 virgin story (which I first heard by a senior member of the USA administration when they fought with Iraq), I googled. I thought that it will be a myth or it will signify some other aspect (just like how people say that Ravanan never had 100 heads but rather 100 virtures. Incidentally this was told by a tamil muslim professor in a debate on TV).
But I found in Wiki that it does signify the physical person and not a virture. Still I am at the begining of my internet search.
I would appriciate if any Muslim CD can enlighten me or the forum about this.

TK welcome to the topic, be ready for the disappointment and shocks. I know this because Christians , after muslims, are easily shocked. Hindus are bit tolerant but they also vent out and can lynch when they are together in a large group.
and please note that No religious person can ever enlighten you ever if you discuss with them their religion, they will tolerate few questions and then will start abusing you passing some time (some may even behead you!). Toleration level is extremely low. Its written in the holy books which they blindly follow.
Coming back to 72 virgin question, Following are possibilities : (I am more enlightened than others so you will be definitely be enlightened today, congratulations ! ! :-) )
a. For each man going to heaven , there are 72 women who will make it to heaven . thus 1:72 ratio is maintained. Then they will be purified. Lucky womenias, they have reserved quota so no matter what they do on earth , their deal is done !
or
b. Some body 'up' 'there' has strong X chromosome to produce only girls to keep up with the ratio. That must be huge pressure but its heavenly.. Chances are you will be placed in heaven to produce them and then what will happen to them?.. I need not narrate !
or
c. Reproduction system is bypassed and resurrection or some other method is used. Now that will mean you might land up sleeping with some ghosts or a emotionless manikin but you will not care.. right?. Your purpose is to have tight sex , after all. Thats why you been praying so hard and killing around.
And remember , since the product can be used only once and should not be recycled for purity sake , heaven will be full of purposeless souls now.
and there is no answer to the question - What happens on 73rd night??, after all your contract is only for virgins ? any chance of replenishment ?? I 'll find out one day.
