See what happens to a simple question/thread? It gets hijacked to things not related to it at all
My simple question based on my observation was (which TK did answer to an extent, but not convincingly - and his other sentences took the thread in a different direction) - for any new comer on this site the advice is always related to very cheap stuff and how to spend the least possible without EVER asking the person what he is already used to. So going thru this site, I would think that none of new immigrants to Canada are such people who do not stay in places like South Ex/Green part with a nice job and a car (sometimes chauffeur driven) and his children go to private schools etc? And if that is so, why they always crib about having help good positions in India with a nice lifestyle, since obviously they did not have either of these and that is what they keep advising to others?
I had faced similar problem when I came to Canada first - everyone advised me on living cheap (and sometimes living on "inexpensive" style, but mostly it was cheap). Within ten days of my coming here, I had almost decided to go back based on what all was advised/shown to me.
So is it because new immigrants to Canada from India are from a society which is not used to good and finer things in life?

Man tends to deviate less from a position of equilibrium .. That's human nature.
You are doing well in Canada , in Toronto ... Did you try to relocate or research better options ? ... Who knows US /Australia may be having a much better opportunity for you ?
But you are satisfied and happy with your current life style and feel settled ...right ?
Same is the case with someone living in South Ex / Green Park .... a Doctor or a businessman who is making 3-4 lacs a month in Delhi with a paid out house in South Ex. has a settled life style ... Why would he move ....
Forget the doctor ... in our own acquaintances from India , there would be less settled people but satisfied in their equilibrium and do not feel the need or push to move.
My guess - the average migrant to Canada from India is a middle income couple below 40 years .. most likely between 25 & 40 , who are earning 1 lac or below per month in India but due to the rising costs in India may be finding hard to manage or want to break the ills like pollution , corruption and wish for their children to be brought up in a cleaner land .
For well settled businessmen , doctors , CAs , politicians , bureaucrats and high earners , the push or the attraction to migrate may be lesser ... ( not there would not be any , they certainly would be , but would not comprise a good % of migrants)

And then by mentality developed over generations , as Indians , we are basically frugal & conservative in our spending as much as we are concerned about good education.
I don't see anything wrong in that ... Indians are richer than other ethincities in the US for both of these reasons ..... we may not shop for designer wear / eat in expensive restaurants ... and may not value the 'finer' things in life because we are busy moving our funds to become mortgage free & debt free sooner .... this is what has been taught to us over generations and I personally do not see anything wrong in it ..
You can either be rich or show that you are rich.

I assumed.
But the point was that a well settled , high earner would be more settled and have less need to migrate.

Money is not the only reason why people move to Canada from India.
I know reasonably well off Indians who have moved to Canada due to the population, corruption, pollution, red tape, bureaucracy, dadagiri, gundagiri, lack of law and order, joke of a judiciary system, nepotism, lack of infrastructure, reservation for SC,ST,OBC , lack of hygiene, lack of customer service, traffic nightmare , donation to get admission, cheating in college exams etc
So even people who are making good salary and have good household incomes move to Canada due to the above reasons and much more.
Having a good car in India is of no use if the roads are horrible and jam packed with traffic and road rage.
Having a good income is of no use, if your daughter is scared to go out of the house due to eve teasing and gang rapes.
Buying a house is of no use if some goons decide to vacate you or some land mafia takes over or if your construction is illegal to begin with due to some corrupt builder and you have no clue
. I know a familly who has bought a flat in a 11 storied bldg, the top 4 floors are illegal ..lol..the builder had only permission to build 7 floors, but he still went and built 11 floors. Now the city officials are harassing the innocent flat owners, and the powerful builder is scott free
