Should one go for Dual Citizenship or PIO card ?
I heard that if u get dual citizenship, and lets say if you are in trouble in india, canadian govmt will not take responsibility (pl dont tell me that they would not do so in any case ... 
).
A) Technically, it's not dual citizenship, but Overseas Citizen of India. The Indian government does not give you a passport when you acquire the OCI, nor do you get voting rights
B) As a Canadian citizen, you are entitled to consular representation in foreign countries. However, if you break the law of the land, there is nothing that anybody can do about it 
C) Do you anticipate "getting into trouble" in India??

There is no dual citizenship offered by India. They offer either an OCI or a PIO card.
Even if you have a dual citizenship or an OCI or a PIO card, You will still have a Canadian passport. In the event of any trouble in India, All Canadians ( those with Canadian Passports) would be evacuated by the Canadian govt.. The only losers MIGHT be PR card holders of Canada but staying in India.
So please go ahead and take a OCI Or a Pio card. It really does not matter what you get.

ill be CD citizen in few months. i was wondering how much do they charge for thsoe cards? and if i get them, do mi still need to get visa on canadian passport to go to india?

Visit Indian embassy website for the cost and the procedure. You will not need any additional visa for India visit once you become an OCI or a PIO card holder.

Hi everyone,
I just received my Canadian citizenship and was thinking of getting OCI. However someone told be about 1 of its disadvantage and i want to confirm if its true.
With an OCI, if you are in india and u fall sick/have an accident ( maybe seriously ) then the Canadian govt does not help you at all. As u have an OCI, ur ALSO an Indian citizen because of ur OCI and hence its not canadian govt's responsibility if anything bad happens to you while you are in india.
However if u just have the Canadian citizenship ( No OCI) and ur in india and something wrong happens like accident or anything serious health related, then the Canadian govt supports u for the medical fees/coverage etc.
Can someone please advice if this health related issue is true.
