Greetings, Desis!
As the subject suggests, I'm not a Desi. My and my wife's families came to Canada generations ago, not as immigrants but as settlers. They came to an empty field in a middle of nowhere and built it up.
They built up this country you guys are flowing into, leaving behind the land of ancient and rich culture your own ancestors have created.
What brings you here? Are Desis persecuted in India? Is your religion being oppressed? isn't there enough food? Is a war ravaging your native land?

Hi,
Replying from India after a two year stint in TO. An individual under circumstances is forced to leave, opportunity or push from society. We in India have a huge amount of population and less resources, just like all old world Asian countries.
Another thought which came to my mind is no one wants to be an immigrant and is forced to. And I think it is nature play at work, i.e. just like oasis in desert are ment to be, Canada seems to be for any immigrant.
What degree of success is acheived is debatable as priority of a new immigrant are very different.
