I am planning to buy a house in Burlington Appleby and Dundas area. Have already made the reservation and will be signing the agreement tomorrow.
Anyone already from that area? how are the schools? How is desi community there?
I understand I need to do my due diligence but additional insights are appreciated.

It's a little too late to ask this now, isn't it?
What can you do if someone were to say it's a crime infested hell hole :p

anyway, just go to the city of burlington's website and all the information should be there.
it is part of Halton region so the information about schools etc. will be on the region of Halton website.

Thanks for the input from Washington USA.
Thankfully there are no such areas in Canada...
Just wondering if Desis started to infest the area yet. 2006 Demographic suggests English and German population.
Being with Desis is: can't leave them can't live without them..:)..the area is good, accessible, community seemed nice..just did not get the feel for desi population.

Ignorance is indeed a bliss.

I see, so you are are desi but do not like to live in "desi" areas?
essentially you want to live in a predominatly white area because you are ashamed of yourself and other desis?
anyway your choice.
you asked a question for which the answer is easy to obtain using public websites.
you could find the 2006 demographic information but could not find the list of schools?
you don't have much to worry, that area is nice and mostly "white".
as far as I know the schools are good.
it has easy access to QEW so you can easily go to Mississauga when you crave some desi "stuff".

Looks like I may need to rephrase the question. I was very concerned that there are no Desis in the area. and hopeful that someone local would respond....but right now the areas where Desis are, I cannot afford newly built house thru builder.
Anyhow based on responses it looks like there are none or very few desis that are active members of the forum.
Desibabu appreciate the insights.

Like someone said, its too late too make inquiries now. Anyway, don't worry about it. Its a great location!

I live not too far from there - Dundas & Postmaster Dr. You'll be hard pressed to find desis there. But it was the same when we moved here in 2004. Oakville is now fairly cosmopolitan and I'm sure Burlington will be no different in the years to come.

Your area i up and coming. Expect to see more housing, shopping n subsequently more schools in that area. As of now theres a lot of young families there.

You might miss the desi ppl but you'll like the general standard o living.

Congratulations!
