My family's Immigrant Visa IM-1 expired as they could not travel due to COVID-19. We contacted CIC via web form and provided following documents:

1. Travel Plan
2. Quarantine Plan


It has been over three months and we have not heard back.

I wonder if any one is in the same boat like us? Any news/updates about time period for visa renewal?

Please share your story.

There were NO international Flights for a long time. So, there were no travels back home.

Now they have started to organize a few flights at a very high cost. See if it suits you. If not wait till regular flight schedules are announced and the fares are the normal ones. If you have a return portion of your flight... the AIRLINES are honouring them. Please contact the air line people also. Use the Phones and SPEND some money, if you got home sick and want to get back home soon. Please bear in mind that things are not any rosy at that end also.

This is my suggestion. But please find out more from the Air lines and your Government. Canada is happy to keep you here if you are happy. They are the ones who closed all the EXITS for everyone and they know it.

So, be guided by these bits and pieces of information that I have gathered.
