Yeah, your last post was 13-8-2004 and today is 18-8-2004 and still no reply to your proposition has been posted. Perhaps they have called you privately to discuss the matter(???!!!)
This is the typical attitude of apathy.
Having knocked on several doors to form a committee to help smoothen the accreditation process of professionals and to help in placing them in work consonant with their qualifications, all I got from people who were fired up about it at the outset, were tons of nos and not enough yeahs. Even MPs who promised support have pulled out. But still I am plugging at it. the process is long and arduous, but I am sure I will finally prevail.
So don't get discouraged, if you really want to form a chapter just keep at it and you will finally find enough people interested to initiate the process and then the rest will follow in typical herd mentality.
Leaders and visionaries and initiators are few, but once they get the ball rolling there will loads to join the bandwagon. Be prepared for these many to say that they were the ones who came up with the idea first. They will put on a show to strut their stuff but in reality they are full of the stuff!
Onward folks keep the flame alive and your baby shall be born!

Thanks for writing and encougement. I kknow the truth of your statement and do believe in it. But, the problem is the current President of ICAI will not stay long as in near future somebody else has to take him over. THis is ideal time. Bbut we have to do lot of ground work and for that we have to arrange a meeting of like minded professionals. We have to prove the council that here we have enough nos not only available but really interested in opening up a branch.
If I am not wrong in India to opening up a new branch atleast 50 members are required. How many members are required to open up a foreign branch, I do not know. We have to submit a official memorendum to the council alongwith name of Indian CAs.
What I would suggest is to call for another meeting and each and every interested CA should try to bring as many CAs ( no matter they are CD member or not) as he/she could to attend. This matter will be discussed in detail and a committee would be formed to take up the matter with ICAI.
Opinions and suggestions are welcome.

Ok guys, I am done with my house shifting (though I still have about 45 boxes to open and find the missing things!!!), and am ready again for some action on this front.
So Daks and DP Jain - what is the latest on your enquiries and progress till date. Do you need another meeting of CAs who want to sign up for an application? If yes, who will be a volunteer for holding the meeting? The weather is still nice and we can still have it outdoors if someone feels he is ready to volunteer but does not have enough space in apartment/house.
And since I had taken the initiative, what, if anything, do you want me to do, apart from simply asking you about the progress?
Let's do it man - we are capable of doing it.

DP seems to have a more direct line to the ICAI President then me. I am sorry to say that the person I was following up with hasn't responded to my enquiries. I think what we need is 'fee paying' members of ICAI to put in an application for a local chapter. Luckily, last year when I was in India I paid membership due for the next 5 years so I guess I am eligible to sign .
I can organize a meeting at my place or I can look round and find a small meeting room. What we need to decide is when we should meet and what will be the 'output'.
DP - I maybe wrong. But, when I checked the website of ICAI, I haven't found anything which says that you need to have at least 50 members to open a chapter.

Daks
Thnx. After all it was not dead. May I be wrong but I remember when we opened a new chapter of CIRC in my home district, the seniors CAs who were taking the lead told us about this requirement. I never checked it out with ICAI.
Dake, how about if you could organize a meeting and we all will try to call as many CAs as we can, to have their opinions and suggestions. Better, if we call each other Chandresh, u and me to decide the line of action. You guys can call me at 416-305-0080, any time or at 416-743-8168 (Home) after 9.00 PM.
Hopeing to hear soon from u guys.

Friends,
I am a CA right now in India. I have got my Visa & landing papers. I plan to move sometime in Nov/Dec this year. I have got certain queries, if someone is kind enough to satisfy my queries I shall be greatful.
1. What is best option for Indian CA in Canada like writing CPA or CGA or pursuing something else?
2. If CA certificate is not recognized at what level I can expect a job in Canada? Some of the mails are really shocking?
3. What is the tax structure? Like a person earning $8 - $10 for 8 hours a day have to pay tax if yes at what rate?
4.What should be the minimum earnings to sustain a family of three, taking rent at $800-$900
5. I have got 3 months to go. How do I utulize the time to the best?
6. Is the minimum dollar requirement enough to sail u thru the rough patches .
Love,
Tukai
