S'up Wake up desi?
Hope everything is cool all the way around. Chuck the theory and let's get down to the meat of the situation hereunder pasted from a post by you.

---------------------------------------------------------
why proffessionals are not recognized....there are 2 issues : what was expected out of immigrant and what immigrant expected from Canada.....

---------------------------------------------------------
I am on the committee of a group of people from different nations who have approached the govt on many occasions to better utilize its immigrant human resources here in Canada. Here is my thesis based on several meetings with numerous govt bodies basically at the municipal and provincial levels

The Canadian govt expects from the immigrants nothing more than to beef up its population and its economy. However they had to lay down some guidelines for immigration policies, so they drew up a number of criteria. They figured they’d put down English speaking (pass TOEFL or ESL or whatever is out there) a minimum of a bachelor’s degree etc. etc. to total 70 points and threw it out into the ring to test it. The response initially was low till the word got around and more and more people jumped on the bandwagon to come to the promised land. So much so that they had to increase it to 75 points, saw the apps go down, and scaled it down to 67, whereby there has been a huge surge. Yeah their posters and sites say Canada needs you, come hither. They got what they wanted. They do not see their system as flawed. Believe you me, they don’t, they achieved what they wanted.
However, what the immigrant was promised he hasn’t got. Not everyone gets a job in his/her field like they thought they would. The immigrants’ dreams of getting decent jobs in consonance with their qualifications, even at an entry level, has been shattered. It is unfortunate.
However, there are lawyers employed by some powerful figures in Canada who are doing their homework trying to get the situation rectified. The process is long and might take several years before things are sorted out. In the meantime, the professionals that are urgently needed like doctors, nurses and teachers- their integration is being looked into immediately. Also the need for better language instruction at the LINC centres is also being looked into. This not for SAs but for East Europeans and other nationalities whose command of the English Language despite having passed ESL tests is not up to par. Also targeted instruction is to be introduced(English jargon and slang for engineers, doctors, business people etc). All these are being looked into. However as jago-desi has mentioned another powerful body is looking into legal action against the govt.. How soon this will come to pass is anybody’s guess.
Jago_desi the system is flawed from many immigrants point of view- more than 50 percent do not get jobs in their fields even after 3 years- this is backed by a poll by the way- I have seen the pie chart. They may have jobs in related and unrelated fields but not in their fields. At the moment, the govt isn’t overly concerned about this as their object is served. They need a good thump on their heads to wake (jago) them up and there are bodies at work trying to accomplish this in both a nice manner and not so nice a manner.

Remember the pie chart I saw is a sampling from all immigrants not only SAs. Maybe in the SA community more than 50 percent get jobs in their fields. I don’t know. Please also note the poll was conducted on people who came here on the point system not on the family and sponsorship models.

You also have to understand that this skilled immigration from asia is a relatively new phenomena.
Europeans were much more successful and as such this never was an issue till 97 when sudenly asian skilled catagory immigrants started arriving.
Already the power that be have arisen from their slumber and are scrambliing to take note. Many new programmes have been set up specifically for the new skilled workers to get a chance to familiarize with Canadian system as wel as to gain some expereince or even guidance.
This was all unheard of in 97.
Things are beginigng to change but rome was not built in a day.
Most of us think that problem of canadian experience is a new one. It has been here since the late 60s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dont think it is going to be over by this x-mas.
Also dont forget that its pvt sector that provides most of the jobs to immigrants and , therefore, asks for elusive Canadian experience, not the govt.
with the kind of non sense news coming out of our countries every day, it is obviously very difficult for someone in north america to assume that immigrants from these countries could be at par with highly developed and prosperous north america.
The responsibilty to change this perception and turn it around lies on people like us. Thats what we have to do, not throw mud at each other in a public forum like this which can be read by hendreds everyday.

Just want to point one thing out, the fact that so many people have so much time on their hands to respond to every query the same day, shows how good the system is. I have not worked in an Indian office, but would management there have allowed an employee so much free time????????

You still didn’t answer a direct question and I can understand why. There’s no answer. Anyways, I’ll take that as an acknowledgement that you don’t really know. And that's ok.

First of all, this is one of the major issues with your theory. You’re making assumptions on my behalf which are nonsense. Neither did I make a sacrifice in coming here nor do I consider the Canadian govt. my “aan dataa”. And they're not paying me peanuts too. You got it all wrong again.

And your theory actually is quite far from Bkb’s. You're suggesting conspiracy and he's suggesting flaw. At this level, they're as different as black and white.

Read all my posts and show me one where I’ve said that the Canadian immigration system is perfect and its always the immigrants who are at fault (If you weren’t so content with reading only what you wanted to hear, you would’ve found such a post in this very thread).

There definitely needs to be some change. Not with the fantastic contention that someone’s churning out conspiracies to screw us, but with the understanding that policies of the govt. aren’t exactly working as they projected them to be. Immigrants are facing hardships and more needs to be done to address their concerns. How do you fix this? Well, for starters you create an information resource which will inform immigrants about the perils of immigration (not only to Canada, but anywhere). I think we’ve already done that. Step 2 is to create support groups to help and assist immigrants already here in the best way we can. And Step 3 is the activism you’re talking about. You need organization for that buddy, it won’t happen overnight. If you had any understanding of how policies are shaped, you’d know that it takes more than a 100 demonstrating immigrants to bring about major change.

You think taking the Canadian govt. to the U.N. will fix all this? Well, I don’t think so. Anyways, give it a shot and keep us updated on how it goes. And by the way, before you start class-action lawsuits against the Canadian govt. on behalf of immigrants and for their benefit, make sure you ask the thousands waiting in the wings to immigrate here whether they’re all ok with it. Just make sure that someone who’s just waiting to come here does not hate you for all the work you did on his/her behalf to have the Canadian govt. close the doors on him/her.

And honestly,

If you really are planning to do something that will help immigrants, kudos to you. We're on the same side.
