Hello Friends,
I am a new member of canadiandesi, and also soon I would soon be a new member of the Indian immigrant fraternity in Canada.

Friends I needed your help about:-
1) How will a new person who has no contact or firends in canada be able to settle down after he/she lands?
2) Does the Indian community in Canada have some welcome homes where new comers could go after landing?
3) I enquired with a immigration agency here in India they say they can do the above but they are charging US$1000/- for this service, and they say they will take care of PR applicaiton, SIN, job searching, resume making, etc. Does any one here have any experience of the above services with any immigration agency from india???
Plz help me as I am confused as to what exactly to do, so that I don't have any problems after I land there...

Thanx..
metroguy..

Is toronto the best place to start my canadian life or u guys would suggest any other city?

I am afriad no one can asnwer that question. It all depends on your situation. If you are arriving with loads of cash, then you can safely settle down in Toronto. If you are coming with just about enough cash, then also you can settle down in Toronto but you need to find out abt jobs. You have not given any information abt your situation. Post more info in relevant parts of this forum. (e.g., education, jobs, qualifications, rent etc.) and then you can get better responses.

If you are married, you can also post information abt your wife. Her income also can supplement yours.

How much is just about enough cash?

How much is loads of cash?

Hi Metro Guy...
The Stage what you are in ALL of us have been in the same Boat.
So Donot worry.
1.there is lodsa information available in canada...say when u land airport you get good catalougues..
2.Download all the address of SIN card application office etc from Internet..
and transportation is very easy in canada ...just catch a bus and reach there...myself and my husband did the same thing...We didnot have anybody here in toronto...

do your case study online and just reach there. you need not require any acquaintances etc..
Just keep reading this website canadadesi.ca and you will have answers to all your queries.
still if you need any lead or any information donot hesitate to contact or leave a thred on charcha.

and Yes first of all decide where you plan to land.We had landed in Mississauga.
and we didnot regret our decision.

I say we get hold of these guys that charge $000$ for Sin, health, Pr card processing from new immigrants.

I wish if I could find one like that. I'll definitely give him / her my peace of mind.

NEW IMMIRGANTS PLEASE BE AWARE OF THESE FRAUDS !

CANADA IS A FREE, OPEN , FRIENDLY COUNTRY.

DON'T TRY THESE FRAUDS RUIN YOUR INITIAL EXPERIENCES !

ALL THE BEST.
