Wanted to share my experience today with all of you......
9.30 a.m Arrived at consultate come out of oosgoode subway and u can see the consulate building (from the American flag). Have to go on simcoe st entrance on the other side.
9.40 a.m After showing guard bank receipts, appointment letter went inside and finished security.
There are two queues,
Queue one for screening of the following documents
1) Passport
2) Photograph
3) Receipts
4) PR cards
5) DS 156, 157
6) Interview Appointment letter
9.50 a.m
u can get promoted ahead in queue 1 if u havent got photographs . The photo vending machine today was giving problems with 5 dollar bills, but works fine with coins (1,2 dollars only) got photographs out in 3 minutes.
Joined at the end of queue1 which becomes shorter now . The lady at counter saw all above documents and than returned PR cards, addn photos, receipt ciopy, appointment letter back. She asked me to submit I-797.
After this the guard directs u back to a second long queue from which there is no escape. . This queue leads to the chairs where u will wait for ur interview.
10.20 - 11.00 a.m
Stand in the queue (moves at slow pace)
11.00 - 11.20 a.m
Sit down and watch cartoons, scene looks pretty peaceful, people are smiling and relaxed as compared to my H1B experience previously in Mumbai (tense faces), rude looking consulate officers.
11.20 a.m

I was also planning to go to New Jersey.

Please be in touch as I plan to apply again in Apr 05.
And yes congrats on getting your H1b. Also what are the implications on PR status.
