all this in the news these days made me really wonder what kind of place this is. all the kids shooting each other and ttc incident.
The other day i was eating in a food court and some kids (16 or so ) was screaming obscenities on the top of her voice and sat down next to me, and in the bargain shoved me a bit. I opened my mouth to say something " like watch it" but stopped because she glared at me and continued to shout obscenities at her friends. Never in my life have i had to censor myself when it came to talking back on a simple matter the person would either say oops or appologize and this made me wonder what kind of place i landed in.
its so apparent when you see a school girl with a ridiculously short skirt that it looks trashy. I was the first one say that school uniforms should flatter the individual who wears them and should be shortened or lengthened if required.
Basically I am just saying that the media had me worried about what kind of kids are out here and my own limited observation makes me feel abit concerned. I by no means think myself conservative and would be proud of my daughter if she wore cool clothes that i would feel awkward to carry off but my objection starts at the school uniform its not bold, it just looks bad the way they wear it and i just wonder what people who have kids think?

....and then some wannabe, pompous writer in some Indian newspaper will write an editorial about how Indians are the most corrupt, the most uncouth, and the most uncivilised lot among all 'civilized' people.
Some "writers" should find better, more worthwhile topics to exercise their literary talents, for example, writing about the habitat of the spotted owl, or the mating habits of sub-Saharan breed of monkeys

"Mah deah, there is much more money to be made in the destruction of civilization than in building it up."

Dont know about the ttc and the shooting, since I am not inTO.
The attitude is probably due to the arrogance of youth. The dressing is probably a part of what it means of be young too.
I guess every generation pushes the boundaries a bit. I personally did the same both in lifestyle and attitude when I was young too. Long hair, earrings and tattoos are what I had(the tattoo remains) when I was 17...and this was in India!
I do find the way some of the school uniforms are worn,a tad too risque for school children, but maybe I'm getting old. Someone had told me that one should look at fads (e.g: short skirts, long/short/punk/no hair etc ) and think about if its really going to be bad for the kid/s 10 years hence...if not, then you probably do not want to worryabout it.
As far as my kids are concerned...I hope they can be given the foundation to *** learn*** from the mistakes they will make in the headiness of youth.
I have a feeling this thread is going to be fun once the 'moral police' find it

When you consider crime statistics, Canadian cities are probably among the safest in North America.
In a city of 5 million people, you're bound to see the type of things that have happened during the past week!

stop this ridiculous hair splitting and casting your own spin on thread starter's point
He is simply pointing out that new generation here is rude and aggressive comparitivley to general population
he is simply expresing his concern not asking anyone to opine which society is better or worse
and he is quite right, the next generation is rude and more aggerrive. But thats true everywhere.
as jake3d said we all were viewed in the same light by our elders.
dont why some people on this board have nothing better to do than to attack each other
