I'm quite sure this is not the first time something like this has occurred and the authorities will also probably guide her to places like womens shelters/organisations where she can get helpto put her life back(emotionally/financially) together with or without the communities help.
One of our desi friends in Montreal works in one such organisation. If you need it send me a p.m and I'll ask her for contacts to sister organisations in Toronto. They may also be ready to provide her with emotional support/advice before she reports to authorities. At the least she(or someone on her behalf) can just go talk to them.

Frozen...it would be nice if you can report the progress of ur friend's case here on this forum. I have seen that many folks have responded to your queries, but you have not taken any initiative on your part to (at least) report the outcome. As you know, your feedback will or can help many such women in similar situation.

Hello ottawa nerd.. i have contacted the girl and even gave her the link..
but u know wat .. she isnt telling me now what shez going to do.. like i asked her a couple of times if she has taken any initiative towards this..
but honestly i guess thats how ppl are some of them i guess...
as a friend i told her infact i gave her the link too.. but she either just wants to keep it secret from others or i dunno.. i thought i was like forcing her to tell me like what step is she goin to take.. so i was like its her thing now so she should better know.. right?
thats why otherwise usually i often tell my friends like what i read on the forum... i guess thats how it is with desis around here.. its just so confusing and me am always asking questions here for other ppl who are shy or somethin but then in the end i dont even get to know what they did in the end , even for my good will gesture towards them to help them
