It will be a great favour if someone could help me with suggestions regarding the technicalities of getting married under the Civil Marriage Act in India. I got divorced after coming to canada, and I have my divorce certificate from the canadian authorities, I am currently trying to get married to a girl from my place, who is also a divorcee and is currently working in UK. I would like to know whether the Registrar's office in India will accept the divorce certificate I have from Canada, should I get this attested by the Indian Consulate in toronto before producing it before the authorities in Kerala, I also need some advice on how to get an appointment with the Indian consulate in Toronto and to whom I should talk to if I need some papers from the Consulate before proceeding with the marriage. I made some enquiries at the Registrar's office back home regarding the formalities for a civil marriage of two people living abroad, but no one was able to give me a clear answer, so it will be a great favour if someone who has faced a similar situation or knows people who have faced these kind of situations could help me by giving their valuable opinion about this.
Thanking in advance
I was reading somewhere that you need get divorced in India, if you got married in India. I am not sure, whether it is new law coming or already in place.
