There are 13493 members on board this site and only a handful are using there original names and others...? What is behind this ?
It is upto the user. As a convention (for most of the boards on net) people don't use their real names.

I think it has more to do with how comfortable a person feels giving his/her name to faceless people. Speaking for myself, in a way my name is something that I feel is personal to me. It is something that identifies me and my persona. When I am introduced to someone, I associate his whole self with his name.
I do not feel comfortable giving it to people I have not met at a personal level.
