I'm landing in Toronto by last week of August as a PR.I have a Indian Driving License, which is in Hindi.I'm getting the International Driving License by paying a extra money of Rs.3000/-.Is there any use of the International Driving License?
How to solve the problem of Hindi License.Plese advice.
Get it translated by some authority & notarized. Not sure if they'll accept it. Else you may have to go to the Indian Consulate for that. They'll probably charge you around $20 to 25.

International Driving Permit is valid for
a. Duration of stay (in case of visitors -say 6 month)
b. Till expiry date printed on it.
However it has to be carried with your original driving license.
BUT
For a landed resident - you can drive on International Driving Permit only for a limited period ( one month ?)
As a resident you have to appear for driving license test. If you have your Indian Driving License for more than 2 years you can appear for G1.

There is no way one can drive here, immediately after coming from India. It is not the law, but the driving differences makes it impossible.
Just forget it and don't waste your money. $100 is a big amount here!
My 25 cents!!
