Hi All,

Can anyone advice me please on how to get the PCC for UAE while I am in the UK. I contacted UAE Embassy and i was told that they need to take my finger prints and that can be given at any Met Pol station, but when i went to my local Met Pol station they told me to schedule an appointment with Scotland Yard and it may take any days to 40 working days. I'm in dilema whether the info given to me was correct ??

Can anyone out there who has been through this situation help me Please!!

I faced a similar problem and finally had no other option but to fly to UAE during one weekend for the PCC.
If you fly by Emirates they'll arrange a Visa and it doesn't take long to apply for PCC.
I submitted the application and gave the receipt to a friend who collected my PCC after 3-4 days, got it translated from Arabic to English and mailed it back to me.

Thanks Despremi, for such a quick reply. But mate, dont you think that its bit expensive to fly to UAE for a week end to get PCC. Are'nt there any other ways i can get it from UK.

When you want peace of mind and when Arabic is Greek and Spanish to you and when Embassies are not very cooperative, one doesn't have many options mate !
It cost me money but I got it in time and my patience was already running on reserve dealing with the ME regions' approach towards work and bureaucracy.

Perhaps there are others with similar experiences but accomplished in a more cost effective manner. We'll wait and see.

I was also bit wondering on the another issue, you might be able to help me out. When i left UAE for India i did NOT get my visas cancelled from there coz i was not sure whether i was going to return back to UAE, although i informed my employer about that and when i got Visas to UK, i came straight to UK. i still have UAE visas on my passport uncancelled, i mean without 'CANCELLED' written on it. (I am aware it automatically gets cancelled if one does not enter UAE within 6 months) Do you think that will hinder me when i go to UAE for Police Clearance?

NOTE: When I went to UAE Embassy here, they told me i need to pysically get it cancelled and was suggested that I can either send my passport to my employer or to any friend and get it done.

Appreciate your help.

IMHO, it doesn't matter. But then, it depends on how long you have been away from UAE. And, as long as your employer has not reported anything adverse against you to the police, it shouldn’t be a problem. There are many who cannot cancel their Visas for various legitimate reasons. However, I guess Saudi (as usual) is different, but then, a PCC is NOT required from there !!
Regardless, since you are traveling all the way from London, plan to stay in UAE for a couple of extra ‘working' days; just in case, so that you'll have enough time to contact your ex-employer for Visa cancellation - if required. But, as I said earlier it doesn't matter.
However, my Visa was cancelled before leaving UAE so my situation was a bit different from yours and one can never understand the rules in this part of the world clearly - ever !
Getting a PCC from UAE is a must for CA immigration if you have resided for more than 6 months there. Therefore you have no option but to take the risk and visit the place. The more you run away from that responsibility you'll continue to face the dilemma. It was the same for me but I made it happen.
Where was the Visa issued anyways ? I can guide you further if it was AUH. Make sure you arrive in UAE before Ramadhan month (Starts Oct 3rd I presume) or AFTER Eid holidays (Nov 10th).

Unfortunately my Visas for UAE was issued in Dubai and its been last 12 months since i've left UAE and it has become invalid now( by default).

I'll keep Ramdan in mind and Also will inquire about visitors visas from Emirates if they charge anything extra for that previlage.
