I recently moved from USA to Canada and I had a horrific experience with the Driving licensing office. I have over 3 years driving experience in USA and 8 years in UK where I lived before
When I moved to Canada I showed my US drivers license and since I renewed in March of 2012 the clerk thought that I had been driving from only march of 2012 and issued me a G2-I tried speaking to her but she would not listen and told me that I am only eligible for G2-I came home and did some research and I was eligible for a full G license on two counts-Based on my UK drivers license and also on my US driving license.
So I went back the next day and I surrendered my UK driving license and this time the clerk told me that I would get a full G license and also gave me temporary license valid for 3 months and informed me the photo id should be in the post soon.
I waited for 3 months and nothing happened. The temporary license was about to expire and I went back to the same office and the clerk told me that she cannot do anything about it and I still should wait for the photo id card in the post-I told her that my temporary would expire in two days and she was rude and pushed me away saying that I won't be able to drive after two days.
I came back to my office and spoke to my secretary-She advised me to speak to the local MP office -I contacted the local MP office and it was investigated and found that they misplaced my UK license hence I never got my G license. They promised me that they will rectify the situation but it has been more than 6 weeks and nothing yet.
I am making numerous phone calls and I am put on hold for hours and they come back with the same standard response.
It is really frustrating to go through all this and added to this I am also paying extra on the car insurance since on all official computers it shows that I have only a G2 license.
I don't know how to take this to the next level.I do have copies of the transcripts provided
Any suggestions would be welcome
Joe
Not dissing you here--- you used the services of your local MP because you got a G-2 license instead of a G license? Wow, I never imagined MP's could help out in these kind of situations.
