I am not defending the high gas prices but I am always critical when people rush to the pumps like there is no tomorrow if the prices are going up by a few cents.

Huge queu in front of gas pumps.
And you will see that in couple of days price easing by 2-3 cents anyway..

No wonder.. you are moving with your wife's car keys
You guys should definitely try these electric cars (in fact I too got to try!). Go gas free for life. My colleague drives it every single day and boy do I envy that! Imagine the kind of gas money you can save every month, at least $90 through $150. That is your one week's groceries. Let's show em those damned oil companies who the real boss is.(more than them these OPEC a$$!@#$. Geez limit the supply to keep the price constantly high? What were they thinking?) In a country like Canada, it's a shame if we dont drive one such car. I mean, seriously, look for yourself how many power outlets are there in our parking lots. This is like constant source of recharging our cars. May be someone in Alberta might have trouble driving through those Rocky foothill roads. But how many of us and how many times drive around one such foot hill daily? Next time I buy a car, I have sworn, I am going to buy an electric car or at least definitely a hybrid.

One more point is that Electric cars may not be environmentally friendly.
Now hold your guns.
Cars run on gasoline which is better than running on electricity which may be generated by coal or the same gasoline (unless we find the origin of the electricty to be either hydro electric power or nuclear). You should also know that electricity has only 80% efficiency (20% waste occurs during transmission).
It is what like my friend Bill Carroll used to say at Newstalk 1010. You need to see the carbon footprint before you decide on anything.
Peace

I am a Gents and not a Ladies.
Actually Ontario government has withdrawn / redirected the subsidy for electric / hybrid due to lack of demand in the 2012-2013 budget.
The Nissan Leaf a true electric is available in Canada and no takers for the same.
