This will obviously work although if both persons are dowloading
furiously then it will slow things down.
Is this legal?
How will an ISP know if 2 PCs are using it.....
Through a single modem only one IP is visible to them.
Am I right?

What is the type of connection - cable, DSL, or regular dial-up.

use a router(30-60$ a pop...for conservative needs). I have been using this setup on dsl for more than a year now with 2 machines on a network @ home and adding one more for the kids. hope this helps

This is cable.
I was just going to use a simple multi connector into the cable modem going out to 2 PCs.
Let me get the 2nd PC.
