PTM is a charted accountant and has a practice in New Delhi. If he says that IT clearance certificate is not needed then i am sure that it is not needed. Many take the clearance certificate but none of them ever have reported that the immigration authorities at the airport need to see it.

No. It is not required. In the Mumbai airport a huge sign says so. But unfortunately the sign is located after the immigration check.

Why should it be on us to prove that we are not running away. It is for the government to take care of that situation.

hey guys... as far as i was advised by the income tax people, they also said it isn't necessary. Still i wanted to ask people who have gone through the experience of immigration already through india.... thankyou for your replies..... and ad1760 its not a matter of being cautius... when something is not necessary why go out of the way and get it done?

this comes from the IT department of your respective states. Check with your IT officer. A chartered accountant is not aware of rrules from the ministry of external affairs. When i left for canada I had mine and the immigration in Delhi Actually requested to see it. About 10 families were not allowed to clear immigration without it. they had to turn back and re-book their tickets. As I mentioned earlier they may request to see it. If they dont its your lucky day.

Dont most of us normally do things that are not required?????????
What if the canadian govt had requested it. Believe me you would be running around in circles by now. Because we indians do not pay taxes at the right time.
