Well they are so many people in canada who were doing so good back home they were well off but they came here. Other wise also this is place for labours and not for professionals but still educated class come and become labours ,becoz they don't know the real scene over here.So many people wants to go back but they don't have option now coz they lost their jobs and now their jobs are not waiting for them.
Canada only needs uneducated class.

If you were happy you would not bother to immigrate.

Getting satisfaction in life takes more philosphical approach - but I was thinking more about doing an engineering job that may pay $50-60K a year, v/s driving cab or truck that may pay $100K per year, or running a convenience store or a gas station.
Or being happy in Toronto with the job I have, or moving to Alberta or US just because there is more money to be made.

I think part of it (atleast) comes from our social indoctrination - the way we were brought up in India.
In India a taxi driver or store attendant or casual labourer would not make enough money to sustain his family - even to put food on the table 3 meals a day! We were brought up believing that is poverty.
Here in Canada a taxi driver/ store attendant/ labourer does make enough and can live a comfortable lifestyle with good clothes, house, car, food on the table, school for the kids ....
If I look at my Canadian colleagues - their parents are electricians, plumbers, welders, car salesmen .... but they dont consider themselves poor! We talk about dignity of labour in India, but its only a buzzword - here in Canada we really do see the dignity of labour.
In India, our identity is defined by what we do for a living. When we gather on social occassions, the guys get together and "talk shop". If there is a newcomer in the group, one of the first questions he will be asked is "What do you do/ where do you work?"
When I went to one of my colleagues housewarming, none of the people there asked me what I do for a living, the talk centred around sports, some politics (because of the elections - but normally they dont talk politics), and winter activities like skiing etc. No one cares about what you do for a living - the job is just so you can pay your bills and do what you like on the weekend.
Ok here is the "other" way to put it together.
A man should be usefull to the society;
- By working, contributing to the soceity in some way or the other - Let us say - JOB
In turn he get something back from the society (like Salary,wages etc for the services rendered)
Now how we measure the "satisfaction";
It can be in terms of;
> A - What and how he is contributing(type of Service)
> B - How well are his contributions received by the soceity(acceptance)
> C - Returns for the services rendered (Amount in terms of money)
> D - How well is he taken care by the soceity
(feedback,socializing, mixing up with others in the scoeity)
Now put the above in this equation
( A + B ) must be equal to ( C + D ).
This is when a person is satisfied with respect to being in a society and or in a "Job".
In short his own "deeds" must meet his "ends"
Now Moeny;
We need money for even basic living,ofcourse the quantum varies greatly depending on the individual;s life stlye.
The basic purpose is to earn enough money to lead a reasonably comfortable life for all (self and immedaite family) - primary need
and be able to support others in need (be it relatives or ....)
- secondary need
Remeber the saying "First help yourself to be able to help others" .....
So Do you think all these three factors life, Job and money are realtive ?
I guess you by now you have some answer !!
I will not bore you any more...... Sorry for beinf too philosophical.
This is not a satire.
"MONEY IS NOT EVERYTHING IN LIFE"
But without it, you can not make the above statement.
Am I right?

Depends on the individual. I thought that I might be able to survive without job satisfaction when I was coming to Canada. But I was wrong.
I know of people driving taxis, working as security guards, cleaning buildings, etc. but earning lot more than what I do. One has to compromise with what job one is doing & accept it. Then one can be happy in Canada.
My advise to people coming to Canada especially those who were having good jobs or businesses is that they should accept the fact that they will have to do such jobs for the rest of their lives. If one does get a job in their field, it is either your luck or you are really good.
If one is satisfied with the job, then definitely the person tends to work harder & that in turn increases his chances of earning more money.
Rgds.
