Jake,
Thats very gracious of you.....
But I really hate to singled out for special treatment. the place where I work, I see people with much more desparate situation and have been here longer. At least I am single (technically speaking.)..athough I have my brother and mom who live with me. I sponsored them as dependents.
I think some people here at some other forums may know my situation (Its a very long story). It is a very typical one. There is even a US green Card somewhere in there. Am I at fault for some of what happened. Probably. I made some bad decisions because of lack of knowledge and because I never was in such a situation before. In the end such things always come down to "survival of the fittest"..
Of those 4 years in Canada I was in a very high paying Job for 1 year (My US company placed me in their office here in toronto). That $$ helped me sustain for quite sometime even after I lost that job.
In very short, I have 8 years of experience (3 in India, 4 in USA, 1 in Canada) in IT. Specifically in Oracle related stuff.
I am quite sure If Canada had the jobs we would be in it. As Sahib pointed out the Jobs will and do go to Canadians (whether fresh graduates or Experienced Canadians folks). Nothing wrong with it. In my own country I would expect the same.
Sahib is also right that Its the second generation where you start seeing the Results of your hard work.
I am as of now still sending resumes on a weekly basis.
Although I do critisize Canada, I dont want to lament my own personal situation and get help. The problem is in the system somewhere and helping one person may not solve it. As things stand now I will be ok.
Canadians I have met are just fine people and I am sure they dont intend any of what goes on.
The Canadian private Industry has to jump in and at least take partial responsibility here. How can someone be so highly qualified in the eyes of the Govt and yet be so tottaly ignored by the private Industry. they can do small things that may help.
I wish we can take this up at a higher level or maybe even conduct a + Ad Campaign (Jake would come in handy) to focus on the problem. I know that would be costly to be really effective.
But I really do appreciate that you even thought about helping out here.
*I think I will take of my rather offensive signature now*

Niks,
In the end, the decision will be yours to make.
Nobody here will outright say "do not come" or "definetly come".....
What is your background?
