Your question reminds me of the questions I used to get asked as a youngster in school about what side I was on during a pakistan and India match.

Regarding Govt. jobs - it depends on what it is. You need to be a citizen to be in an elected post.
How about other positions such as , say, Water Department Manager? Is there a law or is it simply a preference? I am not sure.
You could be employed in certain defence jobs as long as you can clear security clearance. One of my cousin (with Indian nationality) worked in the Defence sector after going thro' security clearance.

Jake,
Are you a citizen? I just now wrote my citizenship exam and one of the benefitts/ previlage of being a citizen (as i read from the book) is that you should be given preference in govt. jobs. Its is law, atleast as an eye wash (there may be racial discrimination when choosing for actual govt. jobs).
And in USA what about the cry for Tapping phone lines of Citizens ? Would this cry be there, if for say, the govt. allowed Tapping of phone lines of all say H-1 B holders? I am sure that the USA govt. also has a specific list of Rights and benefits for citizens and not workers.
Remember that you go to UAE/Saudi as a worker and you are treated just like a worker.
In what way is it different from the West.
yes. In saudi there is Eye for an Eye and Tooth for a Tooth rule. People who canot come to the west go to Gulf. People in the West (recent immigrants) sometimes go to Gulf b'cos atleast you can get good jobs and moolah there. Similarly a person with 4 or 5 school going children would not go to the gulf simply b'cos he can be better off in the west (where there is free secondary education and child benefits).
So it all depends on the person. Donot blame the Govt.. All govt's have sweet rules and benefits for its citizens.

I agree that religious schools should not be funded by tax payers/quote]
Personally I dont care about that much.........but if we go by survival of the fittest rule they can do it and they can get away with it only till they wont be the fittest.

If the Canadian govt were to take the stand that the BIBLE is the only infallible text of God and Christianity is the most SUPERIOR religion and disallow any questioning of the same(like the church did do before), that change will not come about.
It will and it did so in so many countries in europe in the earlier centuries before and after the renaissance. That happened not becuase of outside forces but becuase of the inside forces and the fact that people were just outright pissed with the way the church and their religion was treating them.
The reason it will take a very long time for that to happen in the islamic world is becuase of the very fact it needs muslims to be in charge of the revolution and why would they rebel against something they believe in.
The crusades are not over yet for a lot of people.

You get the relationship between questioning dogmas and change? Hopefully better understanding too. Understanding cannot always be one sided.
I understand your point..........but how/why would i question the doctrine that i deem/believe to be perfect and it is my way of life.
Like it or not and believe it or not but the kind of aggression that muslims have for their religion and the kind of sacrifices they make I dont think anyother person from any other religion can. Thats where the answer lies as to why are they doing it.......I am still working on it to understand it

Can you prove that in court? You may even win the case...go for it!
However, no such leeway for you in the UAE.
