We flew Qatar Airways/Air Canada Feb 20th 2006. The lady at cochin airport check-in was very strict with each piece of baggage. She made sure that each was less than 23kg individually. We were forced to repack 4 of our bags at the airport. The travel agents are ignorant but they talk authoritatively so don’t trust them. We were told by the travel agent that combined weight of baggage is ok, but actually it is NOT OK.

I think all airlines have the same baggage rule these days.
