Hello raj
You can req your travel agent to put in a special req for you for extra baggage as you are an immigrant and wud require more baggage allowance.Trust me it works. If your travel agent is nice he cud even put a request of 30 kilos (2 bags 60 kilos) each person. If you have a full fare for your 9 years old son he is also allowed to take 23 kilos 2 bags with 7 kilos carry on!
Try it out!

It takes fewer muscles to smile than it does to frown.what would you prefer???
Sriramajayam!!!
Your travel agent is right reg the baggage, but the carryon can have a max weight of 18 kgs.
Are you flying Continental from New Delhi? If so, you can -
1. carry 1 personal item like a briefcase in addition to your carry on baggage. They are not too fussed about the size of your 2 carry ons as long as the bags are not too too large. Check link.
Be careful at Delhi Airport. The IAAI have put up a sign which says that passengers can carry only one carry on. If you are hassled by aircrew/security, you MAY be able to claim that continental misled you and have continental allow you to carry the second bag either in the cabin or check it in without extra charges. Pack accordingly.
2. You can pay (at the airport in USD via credit card - don't know about cash) USD 145- per bag from Delhi to NYK to TO.
Bon voyage, all the best. Good country that you are coming to.

ps If travelling via NYK, be aware that clearing security for NYK TO can take time and that your connection has enough of a gap to allow you to do so comfortably.
