"Islamist militiamen shot in the air to disperse hundreds of Somalis protesting early on Saturday against moves by sharia courts to stop them watching the World Cup in the capital Mogadishu, residents said.

The football tournament had drawn huge crowds to television screens set up under trees and iron-sheeted shacks, providing some escape from the tension that has gripped Mogadishu since Islamists seized control from an alliance of warlords on Monday."

Man did you watch Spain vs Tunisia?
What a game. Spain scored 3 goals in the last 20 minutes. They have the highest scorer now in the World Cup, Torres - 3 goals in 2 games.

Actually, Spain has pretty mediocre adversaries in the first round. Ukraine, Tunis and Saudi, so one can't really judge their play.

Great Britain is a shortening of the above name.

England is the lower part of the island.

I was watching Ecuador vs England yesterday June 25, 2006. On the top of the TV screen, the flag of England was a white background with red vertical and horizontal stripe like a cross.

1. Where did this flag come from?
2. Why is England represented as a separate unit as opposed to UK? Why that separatism?
