Hi,

I have just finished my course as medical lab technician from CDI...Can someone suggest me job opening or tell me if u know some laboratories which are currently hiring technicians like MDS or Gamma dyna care or any hospital laboratories etc.
I know one can get a job easily from internal reference and I need one badly now. If anyone of can help me ...I would greatly appreciate it.

Yes ,I got a job as in a private medical lab as soon as i got finished my placement and i am now working for almost a year.

Hello Tulip,

I am a potential immigrant.I have done my Matsers in Microbiology but i did have Medical lab technology as one of my optionals during my undergraduation.I know all this is useless.I would like to know what was the course (medical lab technology)you did,from which instiute/university you did? how much did it cost you? how long did it take?and last but not the least how did u get the job thru agencies? paper adv? online?
I wud be so glad if you cud take out some time to reply me.

Hi Panna,
I took up a short program for 8 months from CDI College ,Toronto for Medical Lab technician.I got a Placement from CDI in a doctor's office and then i applied to all Labs here and now i am working for a lab in toronto.I intend to go for more programs so i can be a Lab technologist .

There are other schools also offering the same program. The fees range from $5000 - 10,000 CAD depending on the school.
You can apply for OSAP ( http://osap.gov.on.ca) to get a student loan from govt. to finish ur education and pay them off later .To be able to get a job u have to take a licensing exam called CSMLS or
OSMT ( http://www.osmt.org ) which is requirement to land a job.

To be a medical Technologist u have to take the CMLTO exam (http://www.cmlto.com/) to get the license.
For taking taking the exam directly without studying anything here , u'll have to get ur degree assessed to see if u qualify to give the exam or they will suggest u take up some courses to be able to take the exam.

u can obtain more info by doing doing search on some schools I have listed above.
