It was recently announced that you do not need to be a citizen or a PR to apply for a job at the Calagry Police Force.

Thank you for your ongoing interest with the Calgary Police Service. We have had a recent amendment to our recruit application process that may be of interest to you.
Effective immediately, having Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status is not a necessary pre-requisite to apply to the Calgary Police Service. Interested persons may submit their entire application package at their convenience.
The Calgary Police Service has an extensive application process that identifies the most competitive candidates. Once a full application is received, Recruiting Unit personnel will be in contact. To facilitate the various stages, attempts will be made to complete the requirements during a one week visit to the vibrant City of Calgary.
While in Calgary, applicants will/may conduct the following stages:
The Canadian Adult Achievement Test (CAAT) and The Alberta Police Cognitive Abilities Test (APCAT).
Personal Disclosure Form Interview (PDF)
Panel Interview (Behavior Descriptive Interview)
Psychological Profile Test
Polygraph Test
Physical Ability Requirement Evaluation (PARE)
Each of the aforementioned stages is based on successful completion of the previous one. If a candidate is successful through the entire application, a conditional offer will be mailed out. Applications will stay on file until Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Residence Status is attained through Citizenship and Immigration Canada.
The Calgary Police Service has been fortunate to be able to participate in the Alberta Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). Applicants compete for 25 positions in 2006 as well as projected 2007 positions. Successful applications in excess of the allocated PNP positions will remain on file and carried over to following years. This will greatly reduce processing times for immigration status. For more information relating to the Alberta Provincial Nominee Program, please go to the Alberta Economic Development Website located at http://www.alberta-canada.com/pnp/" rel="nofollow">LINK .
This is an exciting opportunity for prospective applicants. I recommend candidates review the Calgary Police Service Website located at http://www.calgarypolice.ca" rel="nofollow">LINK and determine if they would be a competitive applicant. All forms can be downloaded from the above site.
We look forward to all applications.

So I guess it's good news for aspiring immigrants who would like to join the force, they can apply directly from India. A one week visit is necessary for the paper based and physical tests as well as the interview. If you are selected, the CPS will apply for PR under the Alberta Provincial Nominee Programme as an employer.
