If you an international student in the US, and canadian PR and staying in Canada. And US empoyer offers you to remotely work from Canada. Is it doable and legal? Will it in any way jeopardize the status in the US?
I don't understand, how can you be in canada if you are an international student in the US?
You cannot be on student(F-1) status without being in school full time in the US. And secondly you cannot accept off-campus employment on an F-1.
If you are talking about accepting employment in the US and you are in Canada, I assume you are no longer a student. If you are still on your OPT after your F-1 then I guess you could work from Canada.
else, you cannot work for a US employer wihout an H-1B or other work visa regardless of where you are staying.
The only workaround would be if the employer had a Canadian office and you were being paid in Canada.

Working outside USA for a US company doesn't need an US Visa. However you would need an US Visa if you go for any work related activity to the US - say to implement / to collect requirements etc. (assuming you are in IT field).

So that means you dont need US work visa or anything if you are not going to visit US. Can you also get paid from US empoyer as an independent consultant while residing in Canada?

Hi Thunder Desi,
I am not sure about this. I believe these are Canadian 'branches' or affiliates of the US company that are employing these people in Canada and paying them in Canadian currency. It would be interesting if what you say is true that a US employer with no presence in Canada can hire a non-Canadian citizen in Canada without a US visa/work authorization.
They cannot hire someone working from abroad as an employee on their US payroll. They can however pay for his services as a contractor. That is my understanding.
