Hi
I became a Canadian citizen last year but don't have my canadian passport as yet.
Last year I got a US travel visa on my Indian passport. Now I have to travel to the US pretty soon and I am not sure if I can use my Indian passport to travel or not ? Is it still valid ?
Looking forward to your replies..

What is still valid? passport or visa? Your Indian passport is dead now. After you get your citizenship, they fax a list of people to the Indian Embassy (confirmed by an employee of Indian Consulate). I know one incident where one sardarji was asked to use cdn passport instead of Indian. This happened in front of my eyes at Pearson.

Hi Mercury,
Sardarji's incident happened when he was trying to leave Canada? That's interesting!!!
You mean the Airline's check-in computers share data with CIC's database?
Otherwise how they will know that he has recently become Canadian citizen...
Can you please elaborate?
Thanks
Its just simple,
if you are driving to US , then you can still travel without canadian passport , having just citizen card with other photo id, like driver licence- this will be valid for almost another year or so, then you need canadian passport,
if you are flying to US , you should have candian passport ( i dont know if you can still use indian passport) ,
but the alternate to this is , drive to near place across the border & then take
domestic flight in US, in domestic flight u dont need the passport,
only confusing part for international flying may be, you can get into US on indian
passport with valid us visa, as they dont ask about canadian status ( pr etc )
but how you can get back ?? may be while coming back at the airport , only
citizen card it not enough
-------------------------- best drive and go n come back ,
and get the canadian passport ASAP
