I am amused, disturbed and very angry at the whole episode. I am sure most of those who speak about the \"sanctity of the national anthem\", \"national pride\".........blah, blahh, blah, are nothing short of hypocrites.
Let's face it - very few Indians are proud of their country. We live within self inflicted boundaries of religion, caste, sub-caste, and much more, However the moment we get something to chew about like \"national pride\",we are up in arms (We are all in this). Remember the days when theaters would show the national flag and play the \"Jana gana mana\"?. Within seconds of it's starting to play, the movie theater would be empty.
In the end, the government in India asked theaters to stop playing the national anthem! So much for national pride, and respect for the flag, or the national anthem.
Today, we get a chance to beat Naryan murthy for \"disrespect to the national anthem\". I know this is a great chance to show our friends that we have great national pride.......... I know many will disagree with me when I say, let's extol the virtues of this great Indian, someone who has placed India on the International map through INFOSYS. He has provided jobs, created many millionaires among his employees, and helped them support a great lifestyle.
I am proud of NRN, and will ignore his so called "disrespect to the national anthem" Besides how many of us know what he actually said, and what was quoted in the media?

What he said was a stupid thing to say. He apologized. I'm sure he's learnt his lesson. And we've learnt he's human.
The hooplah over it is typical storm in a teacup for people who have a lot of time on their hands.
I don't see what the big deal is and I'm with Raj on the fact that somthing like this should not diminish what the guy has accomplished for himself and his country.

Are you there?
The Mysore police have registered a case against Narayana Murthy under Section 3 of the Insult to National Honour Act, on the basis of a complaint lodged by an advocate > http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/Narayana_Murthys_remarks_unpardonable_Karnataka_govt/articleshow/1906858.cms
"It is an unpardonable offence. There is no need for Murthy to make a statement that instrumental version of the national anthem had to be played to avoid embarrassment to foreigners in his Mysore Global Training campus," state Home Minister M P Prakash said in the state Assembly.
The Mysore city police have already registered a case against Murthy under Section 3 of the Insult to National Honour Act, on the basis of a complaint lodged by an advocate. "The case, registered as a non-cognizable offence, is under investigation," Prakash said.
He, however, said there was no "insult" to the national anthem at the function held in the Infosys Mysore Campus on April eight, which was attended by President A P J Abdul Kalam.
The controversy arose following a statement made by Murthy at a press meet he addressed later at which he defended the playing of instrumental version of the national anthem to avoid embarrassment to foreigners present at the function, he said. "There was no need for Murthy to make such a comment," the minister said.
"There are a lot of firms which employ foreigners in the city and also in the country. Everyone should understand his limitations and should not exceed it," Prakash said, virtually disapproving Murthy's remarks. Earlier, Vatal Nagaraj (Vatal Paksha), who demanded a reply from the government on the issue, urged that Murthy should be deported from the state and his Infosys wound up. "We don't need such companies," Nagaraj said. When Nagaraj and some others objected to the statement by noted writer S L Byrappa defending Murthy, Prakash appealed to them not to rake up another controversy and to spare the writer.

Agreed. NRN could have handled it better.

One has to wade through all this small minded crap on their way to the 'legend' status. Then once they are there, face it again while people try to get you off that same status, to suit their own ends and egoes. The price of fame . I guess people like NRN are hardened to this by now.
Thank god for these legends though.

Everything is politicaly motivated.
It's amazing to see how politicisions and people react so seriously to a relatively non issue (specially after having apologised,), and at the same time like lambs with other things like, day to day corruption, Politician who embezzle wealth through corruption,Govt. official who accepts bribe to perform His or Her duties. the list can go on......
How this narrow minded people fill the broad pages of media..!!!
