If anybody residing in GTA listens to "Band Baja" radio at 5 PM, hosted by Moin Jamal, you might have noticed that he is a big fan of Mohammed Rafi.
The problem is, for him, Hindi Film Music starts with Naushad-Rafi-Dilip Kumar and ends with Naushad-Rafi-Dilip Kumar. Nothing pre-Naushad or post-Naushad is relevant for him. Names like Anil Biswas - Madan Mohan - Roshan - SD/RD Burman - Salil Chowdhury - Kalyanji Anadji or Kishore Kumar - Mukesh - Manna Dey - Lata - Asha or Gulzar - Javed Akhtar - Anand Bakshi are hardly any significance for him.
The problem is that, the songs featuring in his programme are based on his choice. Since he is broadcasting the programme for common public, it would be appreciated if he would bring in more variety of song rather than encircling around few limited songs.
Few days ago was birthday of Lata Mangeshkar, and he did not even care to announce that event on programme. In fact, he hardly plays any Lata or Asha song.
Even last THursday, when he played "fast" songs, all the 3 songs featured Rafi.
That guy is over-enthusiastic in his approach. If he thinks, he has a complete knowledge of Bollywood Film Music, he is under wrong impression.
I tried to call him, but he wont return the call. I e-mailed him but of no avail. Hope he gets this message.
I would prefer 8.00 AM Punjabi Lehran hosted by Pinky, any given day. There is such a huge variety of songs available.
Whats his email....maybe a concerted email campaign by us will help....

Meghal, I will be a sceptic here and look at him and his choice of singers/ actors/ music directors and even where he may come from
*wink*I think there are shows/ programs hosted by "others" in GTA (hopefully..CHIN FM maybe) who can have a different taste. There is no need to listen to his show.. In Ottawa, we have a show hosted from Carleton University (7:00 PM Tuesday's) .. Its hosted by Mr Baljit Nagpal.. He has a good mix of songs.. including songs by Rafi and Kishore etc. !

I think you are talking of the programme start around 5.00 PM, there are so many advertisment in 45 min drive only 2 songs are broadcasted. Rest is mortgage, finance blah blah blah.....bush tony blah blah..... band apna bajta hai...bajaa woh bajata hai
