Let me know.

I am still searching for an Indian.

Not a pseudo one but of the genuine variety. Not one that thinks that by wearing Khadi, or by singing the national anthem annually, or by professing his love for Indian food, clothes and movies - becomes Indian. Not one who chooses his/her friends by their state of origin, caste or religion.

If there is one such, please identify yourself.

Sounds like you are asking one if they are human not necessarily Indian.
What qualities do you believe make one an 'indian'? Is it being born on the Indian subcontinent? is it one who has respect for India?

Genuine people can be found all over the world.

Something I also thought about and raised a while back...

Seems like most of the Indians on this board like to move in their own circles/community...ie being Gujju/Tamil/Mallu/etc is more important than being Indian.

Good luck on your search for 'Indians' .

My definition is a simple one. An Indian is someone who is proud to be one, yet allows others to be proud of who they are. An Indian does not feel the need to have outwatrd and superficial symbols of his/her Indianness. (I have seen many more genuine Indians who adorn western outfits and many bullshitters who does in traditional Indian garb - take a look at our politicians and you will understand my point here) Who is aware and respects his country's heritage yet does not hesitate to criticise if something is not quite right ( we have tones of NRIs who merely bring India down because it is trendy to do so when you live abroad). Is someone who has at least done one small deed to help reduce poverty in his motherland instead of merely talking fashionably about it. Who does not feel the need to pretend he has a fake North American accent when he speaks to westerners. One who does not feel the need to break a law by or do something illegal in order to prove how smart he is.

I could go on...but these are a few that are top of mind.

Well being human is a good start. Just being born as a human being is not good enough. If being born in India makes one the Indian I am searching for then it would have been the easiest thing to find ...we have more than 1 billion don't we? Yes respect is one - for any Indian not just Gujuus or Brahmins or Punjus or any of the many other narrow definitions tha we have created. Also respect for other nationaltities. ...I have given some other qualities in my reply to Smiley...
