Just a small question to vizkiz

How safe & secure is US
As I know, its the most unsafe & unsecure place in world

I am asking this, as u r asking abt same in Canada

To be honest, if u really need safe & secure place to stay & enjoy life
go to INDIA

Your answer is rude. All he/she wants to know the safe place in Canada Not places like Jane/Finch and information about taxes. and indian communities. The way you answered will upset desi members to ask questions on charcha.

Kumar

Its not rude answer at all
You didn't understand what I am saying

First its not logical to ask which place is safe in world

Who knows what is going is going to happen in future?

Thanks guys for the information. All that i need to know is which place among Vancouver/Toronto/Calgary to choose ...so that the place need to be relatively safe and secure..I know that no place is 100% safe and secure. But atlease the relatively safe and secure place may giuve me more secure feeling rather than scare me all the time when i go for work leaving my wife and kids at home. I dont want to live in such a scare place.

And coming to the TAX paying system...if US company pays to Canadian company and if i am in 1099 on that canadian comp..will that system work or do i need to follow any other route....as i mentioned in my earlier thread my 6 years of H1 is over and i am coming to Canada. the us client is willing to extend my contract so that i can work from CANADA...so pl advice how i should work from CANADA towards the tax system in view.

thanks
Ravi

Place to live:
There are lots of safe areas to live in Toronto and its suburbs. A lot depends on your budget and whether you have kids that you want to send to public school. We chose our area based on the school and the rents here are more expensive than other areas a mile away but in a different school area. If you want to live in North York, most areas are safe except around Jane/Finch. I personally have never been to Jane/Finch but it's usually in the news for crime. However, even that area may be safer than most inner-city areas in the US.

Taxes:
You can incorporate a company here in Ontario. Ask your US employer to issue you a US$ check each month in favor of your company. You then open a bank account in your company's name and deposit that check. You can also open a US$ account if you want to keep some money in US$ in order to wait for favorable exchange rates (which you can't predict anyway).

You can either use a CPA or a payroll company to pay yourself each month. I believe another alternative is to take dividends from the company but I don't know much about it. Many do the payroll themselves (check out http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/tax/business/topics/payroll/menu-e.html) and simply use the CPA to file taxes. Others may file taxes on their own too though I think this would be a small segment.
