In the year of 2004 so far 9 people have been murdered in (1.28 Murder/week) the city of Toronto.

And last year Toronto Police could not resolve 53% homicides. According to them they are understaffed that’s why each homicide officer assigned to resolve 2 cases in a year, which is TOO MUCH for them .:p

Is Toronto still a safe city( if you compare with other Canadian Cities) to live in Canada?

Thanks and regards.

There are that many crimes *per day* here in Atlanta and more in other US cities, LOL :D

Show me *one* country in the world where the police officers will say, "hey guys, we don't really have any work . We are just taking it easy."

Just my opinion :)

India is one such Country :D
As far as the Police is concerend, everybody is a GandhiWadi and they (the police) are present just for ceremonial purposes only :p

They sure follow a "Take it EZ " policy. :D

I was expecting those replies :p

That's why I mentioned only Canada in my post. I know there are countries including US haveing higher crime rate. Why I mentioned only CANADA becuase we Canadians claim that Canada is the safest country to live, when we claim this, we noramlly forget about other safe countries.

Just a side note: in the year 2003 Toronto had only 3 murders tillFeb 28 and in the year 2004 on Feb. 23 murder count is 9 ( only 300% rise), not bad, huh :)

Thanks and regards.

Bio, please name the "other safe countries." And please don't say Singapore....we're talking about REAL countries here.... :)

Well...umm... Technically it is :).

I think it only takes about 45 minutes to drive from end to end. To me comparing Singapore to Canada is like comparing a brand new one-bedroom apartment to an old-mansion. No matter how neat and clean and organized the apartment is, there's still no comparision. (Jeez man, Chandresh is gonna kill me for this!) :p .
