Hello Desis,
I'm a new member to this online community but was a regular visitor.
I have lost my passport and now have to apply a new one with toronto consulate. Does anyone know how much time does it take? Do they work same a govt office in india or atleast try to understand the need of urgency of the victim.
Any tips?
Thanks a lot
If you have a photocopy of the Passport then life becomes a little easy. Look for one. Then the next step is reporting to the Police Department here in Canada. They will ask for all of the details in the passport and hence the search for a photocopy. Get all of the details from them after the report and a copy of the report. (Some travel agents might have the details with them, in their records if you cannot find it)
Arm yourself with all of the foregoing and make an application with the Indian High Commission, or at the mission here, locally with the required amount of dollars in the form of a money order or demand draft. Also take the required number of copies of the Passport pictures and the correct size or format as mentioned in the application. You should have it within three weeks or there about after your submission.
Also, Please report it to the Canadian Immigration Department with a copy of the Police report.
Now look for the used Airline ticket or the stub from the boarding pass for your travels, starting today. That will nail your date of entry into Canada. Also look for any other dates and entries and other means of confirmation that might become significant at a later date, when you go for your Citizenship. In short get on the ball.
Good Luck.
Freddie.
