yeh i do hav the visitorz insurance but ofcourse it doesnt cover the pregnancy expenses.....
I don't really see an easy way around this.
You won't get OHIP until you are out of visitor status and your sponsorship could take a while.
Even after that, you have to wait 3 mo. for OHIP to kick in.
Your US insurance won't cover you here for pregnancy.
You essentially have two options -
- Pay for health care out-of-pocket. I had estimated some expenses in the previous post.
- Go back to the US for your delivery and then come back.
Your baby will be a US citizen so bringing him/her to Canada won't be an issue.
If you are financially not able to pay for the expenses in Canada, then your best option is to go to the US for delivery.
I'm assuming that since you said you are from the US, you are either a US citizen or GC holder and I assume you have the necessary health insurance there, correct?

In addition to what Pratick offered above, I would suggest :
- First contact your nearest immigration settlement agency. Request the settlement agent to refer you to your local social service worker.
- Call and setup an appointment with the social service worker and see what are your options based on your current status and medical condition.
Canada is very generous and in the case of special and really needy people, they will help you out with the cheapest possible option. If they advice there is nothing they can offer, your only option will be to return to US or your home country for the delivery till your sponsorship is approved - if you cannot bear the expenses as pointed out by Pratick in an earlier post.
Good luck and take care.
