Even Canadians are angry with us.
I had been to a second skills workshop (for people on EI) and we were discussing what courses to take. A Canadian born and brought up labourer (a client / spectator) told all of us that we should choose a job/career which was not outsourceable to China, India or Mexico.
I am sure that with the current recession, more such people will get angry with us.

I do not see any anger in the statment made by the "Canadian". It is just common sense. While choosing a career, think of what you like to do rather than joining the flock because certain career pays more money at that time

When I came to Canada, I was told to make a change in my mindset and keep my options open. Maybe it is time the Canadians are made to swallow their own bitter pill.

I was listening to interview with Richard Florida on CBC about the whole "knowledge economy" aspect and I also attended a related lecture. As per them, Canada should focus more university education, because jobs of future will demand more analytical and cognitive skills, and less assembly line jobs.

I see that all the time. Look at the classrooms in schools, and then look at the classrooms in any undergraduate university program. There is a dramatic change in student demographics, with a lot more 'Canadians' dropping out of the education system on the way, moving to 'trades' related specializations.

While not denying the importance of trades related courses and jobs, the trend of labour substitution(technology and outsourcing) is going to continue.

Education is truly the key, and people need to realize that. Unfortunately, I also see little or no support for people wishing to pursue this direction, aquiring cognitive skills, as university fees are comparatively high.

There has to be greater incentive and relief for pursuit of higher education, then things will change, IMO. I do not see that happening, at a government or societal level yet.

IBM fires 5,000 Americans and hires 5,000 Indians and then says that they could generate 1 million jobs in 12 months with $30 billion in stimulus funds.

Common man does not undertand that its Corporate Greed which is killing the Country. All the Top officials will get the bonuses and perks by showing that they have done cost cutting. But bottom line American's lose their jobs.

If I was in their shoes I would too hate Indians or any other country which takes away my job.

It is kind of the same situation which happened during 9-11.

Unfortunately we being Indians have to face the situation.

HP also did the same. Here they have to pay atleast 3000$ for a fresher. In India they pay 400 $.
