I stayed in Canada to be eligible to get Citizenship. I applied immediately after I became eligible. I didn't go any where during this period. Now I am a free bird and want to move to India ASAP. Now my question is, when I get my test date, I have to come back and again for oath. I don't know, when it comes. It may be between 4 months from now or later. I applied in March, 2009. Any CD experiences to share?. I am from Alberta.
If you mean citizenship timeline, here are the links to the Calgary and Edmonton threads.

Interesting enough i see quite a few people say the same thing that they stay here for until they become citizens and have never understood - if one doesnt want to live here long term, why even wait to get the citizenship !?
Understanding that one has to spend 3+ years regardless (most of the times away from family), have a break in studies or a job back home etc and all that just to be a "FREE BIRD" - sounds reallytype of a plan !
Thanks Desi Friend for your reply
You came to Canada as a Landed Immigrant.Your rationale for staying just to get a Citizenship somehow seems to be in a spirit which landed immigration was never meant to be!What apity.
I do hope that you will find what you have been searching for in India.
It has baffled me each time when I come across stories like yours.Believe me you are not alone. There are many who in fact have several passports.I came to Canada some 45 years ago as a young person.Noe I am retired ,live a comfortable life. The rewards of being in Canada have been immense.Yes,there were many hardships too but now when I look back do not seem to be hardships but simply inconveniences.Have I faced discrimination? Definitely.Have I face fairness --much more here than in India or elsewhere. So Canada is what you want it to be.In any case I wish you and your family all the very best on your return to India. And in the event you are unhappy there then you can always return!
