inrag25, I meant dubai transport bus charges is dhs 5 for oneway commuting. for your info, majority of the dubai residents are staying in sharjah and travelling everday to dubai that is why traffic is heavy during peak hours.Sharjah is peaceful and wonderful place to come to that is why 90% of residents in sharjah are working in dubai and staying in sharjah and plus point is it is less expensive in every way. I have stayed in sharjah for 10 years since my husband was working in sharjah and I used to commute to work in dubai. My car lift fellow used to charge me dhs 350/- pm.

Hi there ,

Dubai is as it was. Please remove all odd questions from your mind and just fly down dubai. I am here since 2006 and still here. Would be travelling to Canada with my family in 2010. So just let me know through the CD site if you need any help here.

Avoid staying in Sharjah, as you will be only for few days in UAE & you will end up spending more time in travelling

About Veg Res, don't worry, there are lot many in Dubai/Sharjah

Need some info:

1. Good place to shop in Dubai. Not expensive one. Mainly jackets, gift items, etc.
2. Any local customs to follow not to offend the locals
3. How long it takes to get the visa (for canadians) after landing? We are reaching at night.

Folks ,

Visiting India through Dubai for 4 days.

Please advise on the following :

a. Which hotel of these 2 is better (in case you are aware ) : Admiral Plaza / Gateway / Country Court .. The 1st 2 are on Khalid bin Waleed St. & both have breakfast included . The 1st one is near Meena Bazaar .. but I fear smaller rooms .. we are a family of 4 - 1 5yr old and the other 1.5 yr old.

b. How convenient would be the Metro .. never traveled Dubai Metro .. Would taxi be more comfortable ?

c. What s the preferred mode of payment there - credit card , CAD - converted to AED there or something else ... esp while paying for hotel or buying jewelry .
