Anybody have check list / tips / suggestion for travelling India.
i.e.
1) Private medical insurance required ?
2) Any vaccine required ?
3) Any other document required ? i.e. surrender certificate ?
4) For Driving can we use canadian driving license there?
5) What canadian stuff good to buy and take
6) If mother is taking childeren, need any letter from father ?
7) Can we use credit card there ?

7. Let your credit card company know that you will be traveling to India since they could block the transaction if they suspect anything. Anyway it is better to use cash I think.

My chip enabled cards did not work in India - even swiping them like regular cards.
It may have been that one particular store that was not able to do it.
Non chip worked fine.

I think I came across another thread on CD in which people have listed checklists when going to India ...
Please browse and you will find it ... 2 things that I recall from there are :
Keep a photocopy of your passport and ticket separately as well ....
Take less things of your use and more of gifts in your baggage so that while returning you have more space to get back new things ....
But really that thread seemed interesting and it would be worthy to check out for it.

whn returning from india custom officer asked me abt letter from spouse as i was ravelling alone with kids ,do take the letter ,better to get normal vaccination ,my child got typhoid in india,also carry a mosquito repellant (a must)
