Couple required to stay in Canada to retain PR status

Hello All

I and my wife have the Pr status she being the primary applicant. I am the dependent PR. I plan to come to Canada and later my wife shall join me once I settle down there. I am aware that to renew my PR status we need to stay in Canada for 2 years in a span of 5 years but my question is are we both required to stay in Canada for atleast 2 years or anyone one of us can stay and it will be bvalid for both of us. Please advise wise people.
