The desi Fijian PM's name was Mahendra Chaudhary. He was born in Fiji, so was his Dad. And btw, shortly after election he was ousted in a military coup and they altered the constitution there to never allow anybody of non-Fijian descent to become a PM again.

If a born-in-India became PM of Canada, will you question it? I'd rather celebrate!!!

After all said and done, accept the reality what Indian masses have chosen. I did not vote in the election and I am guessing neither you did.
When did I not?
All I said is that I won't be too pleased if she became PM. And I'm not. And that's a reality too.

Interesting conversation. Looks like this thread is red hot!! I am from AP. From reading the various articles on Chandra Babu's debacle the conclusion is he's alienated most of the people who actually turn up and vote i.e., the rural community. With droughts leading to famines some of the farmers have committed suicides (the number quoted were around 3,000 in the past 4 years!) - apparantly not much was done to address their plight. The other factor that might have gone against him also was that after all the media hype about being computer savy, etc. not much of foreign investment has poured into Hyderabad - I mean less compared to Bangalore and Chennai. To put it in a nutshell whatever he has done might not have reached down the gravy chain - at least that was the message which Congress gave to AP voters.
Maybe the change of guard is good - only future can tell us.
That's my two cents worth on Andhra.
The other interesting speculation is Sonia's right to be a PM. Heart says she should not be a PM. Well because she is's not an Indian. Mind says maybe it's good because she was a foreign born person she can think and act more radically than we do. The Indian electorate don't seem to care about it inspite of that being one of the most important poll issues for NDA. If the majority thinks otherwise I guess we have to go with it.
I am sure that there will be a littany of cases (1 is already pending in the Supreme Court) questioning Sonia's election as PM should that ever happen. So my bet is that Supreme Court will have the last word on this.
Let me see what others in this forum think.

Daks
Red Alert!
Congress on its on have only 145 seats. It means it needs the others having 130 seats. Let us see how Sonia can manage all these.
BJP was having 200 seats on its own and it was main drive behind running a stable government.
Let us wait and watch.
